Welcome Dr. Jeff LeMay

A Letter from the DCS Board of Directors

August 10, 2021

Good afternoon DCS family,

On behalf of the Dunwoody Christian School Board of Directors, I am pleased to announce that Dr. Jeff LeMay, an experienced Christian school administrator, has been called to be our new Head of School.

Dr. LeMay has 18 years of experience in the Christian school movement. Jeff recently served the Lord as the Head of School at Victory World Christian School (VWCS), located in Norcross, GA. During his 5-year tenure at VWCS, Jeff helped lead the school to achieve new heights in its academic program while maintaining its reputation as a dedicated Christian school.

Jeff and his wife, Laura, have two adult children, who graduated from Cumberland Christian Academy, located in Cobb County. It was at Cumberland where Jeff first entered the Christian school ministry. He served the Lord as the school’s Life Science teacher for 7 years.

Jeff became a Christian school administrator when he was appointed as the Middle and High school Assistant Principal at Harvester Christian Academy (HCA), located in Douglasville, GA. The following school year, he moved into the Principal position.

Jeff took a year off from work to finish his doctoral dissertation, The effects of using selective metacognitive strategies on ACT mathematics sub-test score. Upon completion of his dissertation, Dr. LeMay was hired at VWCS, where he served for the past 5 years as the Head of School.

During his tenure the school became an authorized Primary Years Program within the International Baccalaureate World School program. VWCS also earned the distinction of being the first Georgia-based Christian school to achieve Cognia’s STEM certification (formally known as AdvancED). VWCS was jointly accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and Cognia. To round out the academic program at VWCS, the school became one of few elementary schools in the United States to be invited to become an active member of Fab International, a network of fabrication labs located around the world. VWCS is the only school in the world to hold this combination of accreditations, authorizations, certifications and memberships.

VWCS was blessed to have a large percentage of students who were part of the Duke TIP program for elementary school-aged students and, for the past two years, students scored high enough on standardized test scores for VWCS to apply to be a National Blue Ribbon School.

Dr. LeMay readily acknowledges that the school’s academic success is due to the significant effort of the teaching and administrative staff at VWCS. He is bringing the same collaborative, team-focused leadership style to DCS.

In addition to academics, VWCS was equally committed to partnering with students and teachers to grow deeper in their faith by providing regular Christian service opportunities. These opportunities included a mission trip for 2nd-grade students and older to Mexico, supporting food banks, nursing home visits, charitable giving, and missionary support.

As I have gotten to know Jeff through the DCS hiring process, I have found him to be a very warm and caring Christian leader. I believe you will come to know Jeff and appreciate his “downhome” personality and unique sense of humor.

The DCS Board of Directors believes, as does Dr. LeMay, that the Lord has called him to lead our school community at this time in our school’s life and his own life, too.

I would like to thank Marian Chase for her service in the role of Interim Head of School. She has served DCS faithfully in the role for nearly four months. Marian was heavily involved in the interview process with Jeff and invites you to join her in celebrating this exciting news. Marian will continue to support the front office in a volunteer role and continue to serve on the Board.

Please join us in welcoming Jeff to the DCS family. Feel free to stop by the school and visit with Jeff at your convenience. Dr. LeMay’s official start date is August 23, though you may occasionally see him on campus between now and then.
