Elementary Classroom Teacher (full-time): Job Description
We do not anticipate hiring our next classroom teacher until the Spring of 2020, but we have found our best teacher candidates come to us throughout the year.

Dunwoody Christian School is seeking an energetic, creative, and godly teacher for its elementary school. We believe that the role of the Christian teacher is to demonstrate through philosophy and lifestyle his or her personal relationship with Jesus Christ, a consistent reflection of godly character, a heart to meet the needs of young people, and a mastery of content and delivery of instruction. This position includes healthcare benefits. 

Qualities we are looking for in this person include:
  • Positive and effective approach to teaching, as measured by student learning and outcomes
  • Strong classroom management skills, delivered with love and grace
  • Ability to integrate a biblical worldview into each subject
  • Creativity in lesson planning, and ability to teach to multiple types of learners
  • Ability to teach to Georgia education standards
  • Consistent professionalism in instruction and personal conduct

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, or the equivalent
  • State teaching certificate (earned or in process of earning)
  • Strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and active in an evangelical church
  • Full agreement with Dunwoody Christian School’s mission and Statement of Faith
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage a classroom environment
  • Ability to form partnerships with parents, fellow teachers, and other stakeholders
  • Committed to teaching from a biblical worldview

Elementary Classroom Substitute Teacher: 
Dunwoody Christian School is seeking to expand its pool of qualified substitute teachers. Substitute Teachers must meet the same qualifications as our Elementary Classroom Teachers (see requirements above).

 

School Administrator Intern (part-time, volunteer): Job Description

Dunwoody Christian School (DCS) is seeking a School Administrator Intern to work closely with the Head of School on finances, human resources, instructional support and leadership, and family and community engagement. This opportunity is ideal for the aspiring higher education student who is seeking a career in school administration and is willing to volunteer their time in return for being mentored on all aspects of running a private school. 

Primary Responsibilities:
 
Finances
  • Manage accounting for tuition, fee and vendor management 
  • Support Head of School and parent volunteers with the Annual Fund
  • Participate in the development and presentation of the budget to the Board of Directors
Human Resources
  • Support recruitment, screening, hiring, and training of volunteers and staff
  • Participate in the development, updating and implementation of student, parent and staff handbooks 
  • Facilitate continuing professional development of all staff
Instructional Support and Leadership
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of curriculum and its alignment with the mission of DCS
  • Support teachers in implementing classroom management strategies and routines
  • Assume the role of lead teacher when designated by the Head of School
  • Maintain grade reporting and student records
  • Work closely with students, parents and staff regarding disciplinary matters
Family and Community Engagement
  • Respond to general school inquiries
  • Work closely with faculty and volunteers in planning activities (planning, setup, execution) 
  • Assist in parent and staff communication for the purpose of solving problems and resolving conflicts
Other
  • Uphold the enforcement of student, parent and staff handbook
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head of School
Required Skills:
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create positive relationships 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in a professional manner both orally and in writing
  • Demonstrated organization and communication skills 
Qualifications:
  • Pursuing a degree in teaching, business, or administration
  • Prior experience in an administrative role or demonstrated knowledge and ability
