At Dunwoody Christian School, your child will experience a loving and encouraging school community. Because our class sizes are small, with no more 12 students, our teachers will know your child personally, and be able to provide him or her with a high degree of individual attention.
We offer our students a safe and exceptional classroom experience that is rigorous and encouraging, challenging and attuned. We believe the process of learning and discovery should be exciting and fun.
Because we are a covenantal school, your child, their teachers, and their peers will all share a common commitment to Christian values and behavior. This gives our school the unique ability to create a harmonious and mutually-encouraging class atmosphere based on Christ’s love and Christian principles.
Our goal is to establish Christ-like character in your child. Therefore, all lessons are taught from a biblical world-view. Our weekly chapel time provides our students a meaningful opportunity for worship and personal interaction with God.
Although spiritual and academic growth are our highest priorities at DCS, many children in our society are suffering from poor social and emotional development. At DCS, partner with parents to help mature these aspects of our students’ character.
Recent research is clear that children need play and physical activity to thrive academically. Accordingly, our students enjoy two 30-minute recess periods every day. On PE days, they have one recess period plus PE.
Technical literacy is essential in today’s world. Accordingly, beginning in 1st grade, our students gain an understanding of how technology works. In weekly technology class, using iPads and robots, they learn the basics of computer logic and programming. In 3rd grade, our students begin using Google Chromebooks to complete assignments and create digital content.
Our students are required to wear school uniforms. School uniforms have proven to remove distractions while enhancing learning and classroom discipline.
Of course, your child’s safety is our highest priority. We rigorously enforce policies and procedures which provide physical safety, and we will also strive to make our school free from any kind of prejudicial or unkind behavior that may result in distress for your child. We will have video cameras in every classroom for student safety and parents' peace of mind. Parents will be able to use their mobile devices to monitor their child’s classroom at any time.
