Welcome Dr. Kevin Jenkins

Dr. Kevin Jenkins named Dunwoody Christian School’s Head of School

September 7, 2022

After an extensive search led by the DCS Head of School Search Committee, the DCS Board of Directors is pleased to introduce Dr. Kevin Jenkins as the next Head of School at Dunwoody Christian School. Dr. Jenkins is an experienced leader with a solid background in Christian education and is well-equipped to position the school for long-term success.

Since 2019, Dr. Jenkins has served as the Middle School Principal for Cornerstone Christian Academy in Peachtree Corners, Georgia. His prior service also includes nearly 15 years at Mercer University’s Tift College of Education as a faculty member of the Department of Educational Leadership, where he served as Chair of the department for 4 years. Dr. Jenkins also spent several years teaching education law, ethics, and leadership to graduate level students at the University of Georgia, and the University of South Carolina.  Prior to his collegiate level work, Dr. Jenkins spent about a decade as a Spanish teacher and then as Assistant Principal in Hall County and Gwinnett County schools.

The Dunwoody Christian School community is excited to see how the Lord will use Dr. Jenkins in the coming years to build on the school’s commitment to partner with parents to develop children who are grounded in Christ-like character, possess exceptional knowledge, and are prepared to embrace life’s opportunities and challenges.

“I was blown away by Kevin. His love for the Lord (and His children) pours out of him. He is, without a doubt, the perfect candidate to lead the next generation of DCS students.”
-Andrew Simpson, DCS parent and Search Committee member

Dr. Jenkins’ excellent credentials, his expertise, and his practical experience have been very valuable to the institutions he has previously served.

“I am so excited about Dr. Kevin Jenkins joining DCS as the new Head of School! I have had the opportunity to experience firsthand the leadership of Dr. Jenkins. He is a strong leader who is well loved by his staff and students. His commitment to his team, the students, and Jesus will usher in a new era for DCS, allowing the school to stay on mission and provide a Christ centered education to even more children.”
-Damian Cook, DCS ex officio Board member and father to two of Dr. Jenkins’ current students

Dr. Jenkins and his wife, Kelly, are the parents of four adult children, live in Lawrenceville, Georgia and are members of North Metro Baptist Church. He is a devout Christian leader who uses his God-given gifts and talents to serve both within and outside of the church.

Dr. Jenkins is an active church member who faithfully serves our church. He is a servant leader and one who models for students, families, and faculty a life of following Christ. I look forward to seeing the impact for Christ that DCS will continue to have in the years ahead.”

Dr. Jenkins wants the DCS community to know:

I am both honored and blessed by the trust the DCS Board has placed in me. I had a sense of peace throughout the search process and feel God’s hand has guided me to Dunwoody Christian School. Kelly and I look forward to getting to know, to serving, and to being part of the community. Soli Deo Gloria!

Dr. Jenkins will assume his new role during the summer of 2023.  The Board of Directors and the DCS community would like to thank Dr. Jeff LeMay, the current Head of School, who will be retiring in December 2022 after leading DCS for almost 18 months. The entire DCS family is grateful for Dr. LeMay’s tireless service, stewardship and leadership of the school and wishes many blessings on him, his family and wife Laura.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Jenkins and his family to Dunwoody Christian School!
