We are the Dunwoody Christian School Lions!
Why Lions?
First, the Bible identifies Jesus as the “Lion from the tribe of Judah” (Revelation 5:5). We like having a mascot that has an immediate and clear association with Jesus.
Many parents are familiar with C.S. Lewis’ Chronicles of Narnia series. The hero and main character of this series is the lion, Aslan. Lewis calls Aslan “the Great Lion” and portrays him as a representation of Jesus. The lion is gentle and loving but also fierce and powerful.
Another reason we chose the lion is because in nature, lions are “the king of the jungle.” They have no predators. They are supreme.
We believe that by adopting the lion as our mascot, we will continually be reminded of the Lion, the One we serve and the reason why Dunwoody Christian School exists. We want our students to personally experience the gentle and loving characteristics of the Lion as well as His power and greatness.
"…the righteous are bold as a lion…" (Proverbs 28:1)
